SSC CGL Tier 1 Cutoff 2025 and 2024: Category-wise Marks, and What Score to Aim For
Official SSC CGL Tier 1 cutoffs for 2025 and 2024 by category (UR, OBC, EWS, SC, ST), how normalisation affects them, and how to read your mock score.

The Tier 1 cutoff is the minimum normalised score you need to be called for Tier 2. SSC publishes it separately for each category and for three groups of posts. Most aspirants are in the largest group, all posts other than JSO and Statistical Investigator, so that is the list below.
SSC CGL 2025 Tier 1 cutoff
These are the revised figures SSC published in January 2026, out of 200.
| Category | Cutoff (out of 200) |
|---|---|
| UR | 136.40 |
| OBC | 130.37 |
| EWS | 127.42 |
| SC | 115.03 |
| ST | 106.39 |
SSC revised the first list to fix a display error. It said the correction did not change any candidate's result.
SSC CGL 2024 Tier 1 cutoff
| Category | Cutoff (out of 200) |
|---|---|
| UR | 153.19 |
| OBC | 146.26 |
| EWS | 142.02 |
| SC | 126.46 |
| ST | 111.89 |
The UR cutoff fell by about 17 marks from 2024 to 2025. Cutoffs move with paper difficulty, normalisation, the number of vacancies and the number of candidates, so a single year is not a reliable target.
What about the 2026 cutoff?
Nobody knows yet, and any "expected cutoff" before the result is a guess. 2026 is also the first year with 15-minute sectional timing. Fewer aspirants will be able to push Quant scores with time saved elsewhere, which may pull scores down. Treat the 2025 figures as a floor, not a goal.
How normalisation works, briefly
SSC holds Tier 1 over many shifts, and some shifts get harder papers. To keep it fair, SSC converts raw scores into normalised scores, so a 140 in a hard shift can become higher than a 140 in an easy one. The cutoff is applied to normalised scores. Your raw mock score cannot be normalised in the same way, which is why no mock can promise you will clear.
What score to aim for in mocks
A sensible target is to be 15 to 20 marks above the latest cutoff for your category, consistently, across several full mocks. One good score can be luck. Five good scores in a row is preparation.
Track three numbers after every mock:
- Net score: your marks after negative marking.
- Accuracy: correct answers as a share of attempts. Above 85% is a strong sign.
- Marks lost to wrong answers: every wrong answer costs 2.5 marks compared with a correct one (the 2 you missed plus the 0.5 you lost).
RankVyuh's SSC CGL mocks show your score next to the latest official cutoff for each category. This is a comparison with a past exam, not a prediction of your result.
