Quick answer
CGL 2025 Tier 1 UR cutoffs were 153.46 for JSO and 152.47 for SI Grade II, out of 200. Final UR cutoffs (last selected candidate, Tier 2, out of 390) were 331 for ASO in CSS, 342 for Inspector of Income Tax, 330 for CBI Sub Inspector, 312 for Auditor and 309 for Tax Assistant. In 2024 these posts closed at 353.25, 357.30, 349.84, 343.26 and 341.10.
SSC CGL has two kinds of cutoff, and people often mix them up. The Tier 1 cutoff decides who gets to write Tier 2. The final cutoff decides who gets which post, and it is different for every post and every category. This page gives both, post-wise, from SSC's own result write-ups for CGL 2025 and CGL 2024.
If you only want the Tier 1 cutoff for the main list (all posts other than JSO and Statistical Investigator), see our SSC CGL Tier 1 cutoff page. This page covers the other two Tier 1 lists and the post-wise final cutoffs.
How SSC sets post-wise cutoffs
At Tier 1, SSC makes three separate lists:
- List 1: Junior Statistical Officer (JSO), for candidates who applied for JSO.
- List 2: Statistical Investigator Grade II (SI), for candidates who applied for SI.
- List 3: all other posts. Most candidates are only in this list.
JSO and SI candidates write an extra Statistics paper (Paper II) in Tier 2, so SSC fixes separate, higher Tier 1 cutoffs for them.
After Tier 2, SSC allots posts by merit and by the post preferences each candidate submits. For every post and category, the result write-up shows the marks of the last selected candidate. That figure is what people call the "post-wise cutoff". As per the CGL 2025 notice, merit for all posts other than JSO and SI is based on Sections I and II of Tier 2 Paper I, which carry 390 marks (180 + 210). For JSO and SI, Paper II (200 marks) is added, so their totals are out of 590.
Tier 1 cutoff for JSO and Statistical Investigator
These are normalised marks out of 200, rounded to two decimals. SSC publishes them to five decimals.
| Category | JSO 2025 | SI Gr II 2025 | JSO 2024 | SI Gr II 2024 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UR | 153.46 | 152.47 | 167.02 | 170.66 |
| OBC | 153.46 | 150.51 | 160.65 | 161.13 |
| EWS | 151.59 | 152.15 | 161.73 | 163.51 |
| SC | 137.30 | 137.16 | 143.54 | No list (nil vacancy) |
| ST | 136.40 | 130.17 | 135.23 | 134.50 |
For comparison, the UR Tier 1 cutoff for all other posts was 136.40 in 2025 and 153.19 in 2024. So the statistics posts needed roughly 14 to 17 more marks at UR level in both years. In 2024 SSC did not set an SC cutoff for SI Grade II because no SC vacancy was reported for that post.
In January 2026, SSC issued a corrigendum to the CGL 2025 Tier 1 write-up. It corrected the figures for the "all other posts" list only. The JSO and SI figures above were not changed.
Final cutoff 2025, post-wise and category-wise
CGL 2025 Tier 2 was held on 18 and 19 January 2026. SSC declared the final result on 14 May 2026, with 15,118 candidates recommended. The table shows the Tier 2 marks of the last selected candidate. Marks are out of 390, except JSO and SI, which are out of 590.
| Post (department) | UR | OBC | EWS | SC | ST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ASO, CSS (DoPT) | 331 | 324 | 327 | 311 | 299 |
| ASO, Ministry of External Affairs | 348 | 343 | 345 | 328 | 329 |
| Inspector of Income Tax (CBDT) | 342 | 334 | 334 | 322 | 313 |
| Inspector, Central Excise (CBIC) | 319 | 316 | 315 | 305 | 292 |
| Inspector, Preventive Officer (CBIC) | 320 | 318 | 319 | 303 | 293 |
| Inspector, Examiner (CBIC) | 325 | 326 | 323 | 308 | 299 |
| Assistant Enforcement Officer (ED) | 362 | 342 | – | 336 | 326 |

| Inspector of Posts | 331 | 328 | 331 | 311 | 306 |
| Office Superintendent (CBDT) | 317 | 311 | 313 | 296 | 283 |
| Auditor (CGDA) | 312 | 309 | 310 | 294 | 280 |
| Tax Assistant (CBDT) | 309 | 308 | 308 | 293 | 277 |
| JSO (MoSPI), out of 590 | 394.5 | 388.5 | 391.5 | 373.5 | 356.5 |
| SI Grade II (RGI), out of 590 | 384 | 372.5 | 368.5 | 366 | 342.5 |
A dash means no vacancy was reported in that category. Assistant Enforcement Officer had only one UR vacancy in 2025, so its UR figure is the score of a single candidate.
Final cutoff 2024, post-wise and category-wise
CGL 2024 Tier 2 was held on 18, 19, 20 and 31 January 2025. SSC declared the final result on 12 March 2025, with 18,174 candidates recommended. SSC printed these marks to five decimals; they are rounded here. The scale is the same as above.

What these numbers tell you
- Final cutoffs fell in 2025. The UR cutoff for ASO in CSS dropped from 353.25 to 331, and for Inspector of Income Tax from 357.30 to 342. A different paper explains much of this. Do not read it as a trend.
- The gap between posts is small. In 2025, every post out of 390 except Assistant Enforcement Officer closed between 309 and 348 at UR level. A few marks can move you from one post to another.
- OBC or EWS can be above UR for a post. For Inspector (Examiner) in 2025, the last OBC candidate scored 326 against 325 for UR. This happens because candidates who score high enough are counted against UR vacancies, and because posts are filled by preference order, not only by marks.
- The last selected score depends on preferences. A post that many high scorers rank first closes higher. In 2025, ASO in MEA closed at 348 for UR, 17 marks above ASO in CSS.
What about Assistant Audit Officer (AAO)?
There was no Assistant Audit Officer or Assistant Accounts Officer post in the CGL 2024 or CGL 2025 final result tables, and the CGL 2025 notice had no AAO paper. So there is no recent CGL final cutoff for AAO to quote. These posts are listed in the CGL 2026 notice. When SSC publishes the 2026 final result, its write-up will give the AAO figures.
The Tier 2 qualifying stage
Before posts are allotted, candidates must clear Sections I and II of Paper I to be evaluated further. In 2024 SSC set an aggregate cutoff for this, which was 322.77 for UR. In 2025 it used only the minimum qualifying marks, which for UR were 54 in Section I and 63 in Section II. Clearing this stage does not mean you will get a post.
How to use these cutoffs
- Pick the two or three posts you actually want, then note the last selected score for your category in both years.
- Remember that Tier 2 is what decides your post. Tier 1 only has to get you through.
- Practise Tier 1 under exam conditions first, because without clearing it none of the numbers above matter. You can take SSC CGL Full Mock 1 free, which follows the 2026 pattern with a 15-minute timer per section.
For more guides and mocks, see the SSC CGL hub. To check any figure here, open the final result write-up for that year on ssc.gov.in under Results, Combined Graduate Level Examination.

Frequently asked questions
What was the SSC CGL 2025 final cutoff for ASO in CSS?
The last selected candidate for Assistant Section Officer in CSS scored 331 (UR), 324 (OBC), 327 (EWS), 311 (SC) and 299 (ST) out of 390 in Tier 2, as per SSC's final result write-up dated 14 May 2026.
What was the SSC CGL 2025 Tier 1 cutoff for JSO?
153.46 for UR and OBC, 151.59 for EWS, 137.30 for SC and 136.40 for ST, out of 200 (normalised), as per the Tier 1 result write-up dated 18 December 2025.
Is the final cutoff the same for all SSC CGL posts?
No. SSC publishes the marks of the last selected candidate separately for each post and category. They depend on vacancies, merit and the post preferences candidates submit.
Out of how many marks is the SSC CGL final cutoff?
For all posts other than JSO and Statistical Investigator Grade II, merit is based on Sections I and II of Tier 2 Paper I, out of 390. For JSO and SI Grade II, Paper II (Statistics, 200 marks) is added, so the total is out of 590.
What is the SSC CGL cutoff for Assistant Audit Officer?
AAO did not appear in the CGL 2024 or 2025 final results, so there is no recent final cutoff for it. It is listed in the CGL 2026 notice, and its cutoff will appear in the 2026 final result write-up.
