Quick answer
The SSC CHSL 2025 Tier 1 cutoff for LDC/JSA was 144.26 for UR, 143.83 for OBC, 141.42 for EWS, 125.40 for SC and 115.25 for ST, out of 200 normalised marks (SSC result, 27 February 2026). For CHSL 2024 it was 157.36, 156.62, 150.52, 139.68 and 129.45. Final selection depends on Tier 2 marks, and SSC publishes those cutoffs post by post.
The SSC CHSL Tier 1 cutoff is the lowest normalised score in each category that SSC called to Tier 2. SSC publishes it in the result write-up for each year's exam, separately for LDC/JSA and for Data Entry Operator (DEO) posts. All figures on this page are copied from those write-ups on ssc.gov.in. They are the cutoffs as published by SSC for that year only. They change every year with paper difficulty, normalisation, vacancies and the number of candidates.
Tier 1 has four parts of 25 questions each, worth 50 marks each, so the total is 200. This was the same in the 2024, 2025 and 2026 notices. Each wrong answer costs 0.50 marks.
SSC CHSL Tier 1 cutoff for LDC/JSA (2025 and 2024)
Most candidates are in the LDC/JSA list, so this is the table to look at first. SSC gives cutoffs to five decimal places; they are rounded to two here.
| Category | CHSL 2025 (out of 200) | CHSL 2024 (out of 200) |
|---|---|---|
| UR | 144.26 | 157.36 |
| OBC | 143.83 | 156.62 |
| EWS | 141.42 | 150.52 |
| SC | 125.40 | 139.68 |
| ST | 115.25 | 129.45 |
| ESM | 68.26 | 78.23 |
| OH | 112.15 | 124.70 |
| HH | 75.39 | 81.07 |
| VH | 82.73 | 123.79 |
| PwBD-Others | 55.33 | 72.54 |
The UR cutoff fell by about 13 marks from 2024 to 2025, and SC and ST fell by about 14. OBC and UR were less than one mark apart in both years. SSC does not give a reason for the change.
CHSL 2024 Tier 1 was held from 1 to 11 July 2024 and the result came out on 6 September 2024, when 39,835 candidates were shortlisted for Tier 2. CHSL 2025 Tier 1 was held from 12 to 30 November 2025 and the result came out on 27 February 2026. The 2025 LDC/JSA list alone had 37,520 candidates.
SSC CHSL Tier 1 cutoff for DEO posts
DEO cutoffs were higher than LDC/JSA cutoffs in both years, and far fewer candidates were shortlisted on the DEO lists (1,630 in 2024; 614 and 1,767 on the two 2025 lists). In 2024 SSC made one DEO list. In 2025 it made two: one for DEO and DEO Grade 'A' in the department or ministry named at Para 8.1 of the notice (SSC labelled it "Science Stream"), and one for DEO posts everywhere else.
| Category | 2025 DEO, Para 8.1 department | 2025 DEO, other departments | 2024 DEO/DEO Grade 'A' |
|---|---|---|---|
| UR | 169.54 | 165.27 | 176.27 |
| OBC | 169.50 | 165.27 | 176.27 |
| EWS | 169.54 | 163.77 | 176.27 |
| SC | 157.72 | 158.63 | 166.68 |
| ST | 152.79 | 150.43 | 165.08 |
| ESM | 128.53 | 112.53 | 133.94 |
SSC also listed a few disability categories for some DEO lists (for example HH at 118.61 and 120.22 in the two 2025 lists, and OH at 166.25 in 2024). Where a category is not listed for a year, SSC did not publish a figure for it.
Minimum qualifying marks are different from the cutoff
The notice sets a floor that every candidate must cross: 30% for UR, 25% for OBC and EWS, and 20% for all other categories. On a 200-mark paper that is 60, 50 and 40 marks. The real cutoff is far above this floor, because SSC shortlists only as many candidates as it needs for Tier 2.
Tier 2 and the final cutoff
Tier 1 only shortlists. Under the notice, the merit list is made from the total of Section I and Section II of Tier 2 (60 questions each, 180 marks each, so 360 in all). The Computer Knowledge Test and the typing or skill test only need to be passed.
SSC does not publish one final cutoff per category. Instead, the final result lists the marks of the last selected candidate for every post code and category, so there are dozens of final cutoffs. You can find them in the final result write-ups linked below.
The qualifying standards SSC fixed for the 2024 and 2025 final stages were the same:
| Qualifying test | UR | OBC/EWS | Other categories |
|---|---|---|---|
| Computer Knowledge Test (out of 45) | 13.5 | 11.25 | 9 |
| Typing test (LDC/JSA), mistakes allowed | 7% | 10% | 10% |
| Skill test (DEO Grade 'A'), mistakes allowed | 5% | 7% | 7% |
The numbers of posts filled were close in both years. The CHSL 2024 final result recommended 3,421 candidates against 3,421 vacancies. For CHSL 2025, SSC listed 3,522 vacancies and recommended 3,515 candidates in the final result of 7 October 2026.
Where official data was not found
This page covers only the years whose result write-ups are linked below from ssc.gov.in, so CHSL 2023 and earlier years are left out. Copies on other sites cannot be treated as official. There is no official cutoff for CHSL 2026 yet; any "expected cutoff" you see before the result is a guess.
What the 2026 numbers suggest, and what they don't
The CHSL 2026 notice lists about 2,536 tentative vacancies, against about 3,131 in the 2025 notice and about 3,712 in the 2024 notice. Fewer posts can mean a higher cutoff, but difficulty and the number of candidates matter just as much. Treat the 2025 figures as a reference point, not a forecast.
How to use these numbers in practice
A practical check is whether you score above your category's latest cutoff in mocks, with some margin, more than once in a row. One high score can be luck; a steady run is a better sign.
After each mock, note three things: your net score, your accuracy, and how many marks you lost to wrong answers. On CHSL Tier 1, every wrong answer costs 2.5 marks compared with a correct one (2 marks missed plus 0.50 deducted).
You can try the free SSC CHSL Full Mock 1 to see where you stand, and find more practice on the SSC CHSL hub. The SSC CHSL syllabus 2026 explains what each section covers. A mock score is not normalised the way SSC normalises shifts, so it is a comparison with a past exam, not a prediction of your result.

Frequently asked questions
What was the SSC CHSL 2025 Tier 1 cutoff for general category?
For LDC/JSA it was 144.25858 out of 200 normalised marks for UR, as given in SSC's Tier 1 result of 27 February 2026. For DEO posts it was 169.54438 (Para 8.1 department) and 165.26551 (other departments).
What was the SSC CHSL 2024 cutoff for OBC?
For OBC it was 156.61665 out of 200 for LDC/JSA and 176.27042 for DEO/DEO Grade 'A', as per SSC's Tier 1 result of 6 September 2024.
Is the SSC CHSL cutoff out of 200?
Yes, the Tier 1 cutoff is out of 200. Tier 1 has 100 questions of 2 marks each, and SSC applies the cutoff to normalised scores. Final selection is based on Tier 2 Section I and II, which together carry 360 marks.
Why did the SSC CHSL cutoff go down in 2025?
SSC does not give a reason. Cutoffs depend on paper difficulty, normalisation across shifts, the number of vacancies and the number of candidates, so they move from year to year.
What is the minimum qualifying marks in SSC CHSL Tier 1?
30% for UR, 25% for OBC and EWS, and 20% for other categories, which is 60, 50 and 40 out of 200. The actual cutoff has been far higher than this floor.
Is the SSC CHSL 2026 cutoff out?
No. SSC has not declared a CHSL 2026 Tier 1 result, so there is no official cutoff. The 2026 notice says the Tier 1 schedule will be notified later. Any figure before the result is a guess.
