Quick answer

JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is on 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28 January 2027, and Session 2 is on 2 to 7 April 2027. Session 1 registration is open on jeemain.nta.nic.in from 24 October to 22 November 2026 (11:50 PM), with a late-fee window from 23 to 26 November and corrections from 27 to 29 November 2026.

NTA opened the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 application form on 24 October 2026, the date of its public notice inviting applications. The information bulletin, published the same day, gives the full calendar for both sessions. This post sets out those dates, the fee, who can apply and what you need to upload. Every date here comes from the NTA notice or bulletin. Where NTA has not yet given a date, we say so.

The Session 1 dates appear in both the public notice and the bulletin. The Session 2 application dates come from the bulletin. NTA says the Session 2 form will open "as per the details available in the Information Bulletin" and will also be announced in a separate public notice. Check that notice when it comes out. NTA's examination calendar for the December 2026 cycle onwards lists the same exam days for both sessions and calls them tentative.

Your exact exam date, shift and centre will be printed on your admit card. The city intimation slip, which NTA lists as the announcement of the city of examination, comes out first, on the date in the table above.

Exam timings

Each session runs in two shifts:

  • Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), Paper 2A (B.Arch) or Paper 2B (B.Planning), 3 hours: 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, or 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM (IST).
  • B.Arch and B.Planning together, 3 hours 30 minutes: 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, or 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM (IST).

Exam centre gates close 30 minutes before the exam starts. If you arrive after that, you will not be allowed in. Paper 1 has 75 questions, 25 each in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, split into Section A (multiple-choice) and Section B (numerical-value answers). Both sections have negative marking for wrong answers. Our post on the JEE Main 2027 exam pattern and numerical questions explains the format in detail.

Application fee for each session

You pay the fee separately for each session you apply for. Payment is online only, by debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI.

Your application is complete only when the fee is paid and the Confirmation Page is generated. If money leaves your account but the Confirmation Page does not appear, contact your bank or payment gateway using the helpline details in Appendix I of the bulletin.

Who can apply

  • No age limit. NTA sets no upper or lower age limit for JEE Main 2027. Colleges may still have their own age rules for admission.
  • Year of Class 12. You can apply if you passed Class 12 or an equivalent exam in 2025 or 2026, or if you are taking it in 2027. If you passed in 2024 or earlier, you cannot appear.
  • Passing year means first pass. The passing year is the year your result was first declared "pass". An improvement attempt does not change it.
  • Class 12 students. If you write your Class 12 board exam in 2027, enter your board roll or registration number in the form.

The bulletin lists the accepted qualifying exams, including CBSE, CISCE, state boards, NIOS, BOSSE and three-year AICTE-recognised diplomas. Check the full list in Chapter 3 of the bulletin.

How to register

The form is on jeemain.nta.nic.in only. NTA will not accept forms sent any other way. NTA's 28 October 2026 notice adds three points:

  1. Log in with your own DigiLocker, JanParichay or e-Pramaan (MeriPehchaan) account, not a parent's or sibling's. This avoids identity mismatches at later stages.
  2. Do Re-KYC on DigiLocker before you start, so your latest details are pulled into the form.
  3. Make sure your name and date of birth match your Class 10 certificate or marksheet exactly.

After you register you get an Application Number. You will use the same number for Session 2. You then fill in your details, choose your paper, pick four exam cities in order of preference, upload documents and pay the fee. Use your own or a parent's mobile number and email address, because NTA sends all updates there.

Made a mistake in your form?

NTA's 30 October 2026 notice lets you submit a fresh Session 1 form, even if you have already paid. You get a new Application Number and must fill in everything and upload all documents again. Only the last form with a paid fee and a generated Confirmation Page counts. The fee paid for the earlier form will not be refunded or adjusted. The deadline is the same: 22 November 2026, or 26 November with the late fee.

If you only need to change a few fields, NTA advises using the correction window (27 to 29 November 2026) instead. You can hold more than one Application Number, but if you appear, or try to appear, with more than one in the same session, NTA will treat it as unfair means.

What NTA has not announced yet

  • Answer key and result dates. The bulletin says only that the attempted question papers and provisional answer keys "will be displayed on the NTA website". No date is given for either session's result.
  • The Session 2 public notice. The Session 2 dates above come from the bulletin. NTA says it will confirm them in a separate notice.

For scoring, the bulletin says that if you sit both sessions, your better total NTA score of the two counts for the merit list.

What to do now

If you have not applied yet, you have until 22 November 2026 at 11:50 PM to finish without a late fee. Keep a soft copy and a printout of your Confirmation Page. NTA says the Confirmation Page, admit card and scorecard will not be available on its site after 31 July 2027.
